What is an AP?
An Accredited Person (AP) is authorised by MAF to inspect sea containers at an approved Transitional Facility. An accredited person checks the containers for any contaminants that could pose a risk to New Zealands
biosecurity dealing with anything they find and notifying MAF of contaminants found.
Am I eligible?
The course is open to anyone who has a requirement to open and inspect sea containers at a transitional facility.
What is covered in the AGOGE training?
This is a half day course that involves in depth training regarding the various contaminants and potential risks. It covers the responsibility of an AP and what steps they must take when opening and recording the opening of container.
How much does it cost?
The cost of this course is just $150 plus GST. This includes a $10 fee which is paid to MAF for the issue of your certificate.
What happens AFTER the course?
Once you have successfully completed the course Agoge will notify MAF of your successful course and MAF will issue you a certificate by post within 1 month.
Your certificate will have an expiry date of 2 years after the completion of the course. To continue opening and inspecting containers you must complete the course again every 2 years.
Can I have this course added to my record of learning?
The MAF AP course does not currently offer NZQA unit standards.
